[ Text from back of LP cover ]
Today's overspecialization in the entertainment world received a rude shock recently, when the number one comedy team of the nation, Marty Allen and Steve Rossi declared, "we do everything - and everything we do we try to make exciting and topical." "We're like two guys doing a one-man show," Marty states. "We run the gamut of entertainment instead of concentrating on one phase." Steve added. "A change of pace is our bread and butter. It's got to be that way. We're dealing with so many different kinds of audiences that there has to be something for everybody."

To some people, reading a newspaper is a means of whiling away time; to others it is a source of valuable information. But to Marty and Steve, newspapers are as indispensable as everyday eating and sleeping. The pair feels that the systematic reading of a minimum of four or five newspapers a day, plus sporadic browsing through news magazines and other periodicals, plus best selling non-fiction, can provide a tremendous amount of comedy material.

"Topical humour must be kept up-to-date," agree the boys who made the "Hello Dere" trademark a national catch-phrase. "We always try to keep right on top of the headlines-and find humor in them. We take the front page and make it the funny page."

The boys, to date, have reached stardom and top money by concentrating their efforts in the night club, hotel and concert fields. They have judiciously spaced their guest star television appearances on such top rated shows headed by Gary Moore, Ed Sullivan, Perry Como, Steve Allen and Johnny Carson.

Understandably, Marty Allen and Steve Rossi are one of the hottest acts in show business today. Working within the concepts of a handsome, romantic singer and a loveable zany, Allen & Rossi offer a comedy team idea that has depth. Theirs is not the raucous, anything-for-a-laugh mayhem such teams normally use. Instead, they have an understanding of the pathos side of physical fun., evidenced by the sensitive subtleties displayed in their facial and vocal expressions.

As individuals, Marty Allen and Steve Rossi are in sharp opposition to each other. As a team, they blemd into a well integrated, well paced, hilarious adventure in showmanship and entertainment, as is clearly presented in the album.
